I went to the Dupont Circle farmers market today and bought some fresh kale. I made a raw kale salad with kale, apple cider vinegar, hemp seeds, olive oil, munchi curry, and himalayan salt. 100% Organic.
The organic kale greens are from Sunnyside Organic Farm. It feels great to eat food from a farmer I’ve met.
All I can say is: “Wow!”.
Eight Immortals is a supertonic antiaging formulation of the highest order. All of the herbs in this extraordinary tincture have antiaging, immune strengthening, spirit lifting, mind strengthening qualities. This is the ultimate example of an adaptogenic herbal supplement. It is composed of eight of the elite tonic herbs, and all of the herbs used are super-premium grade, far beyond conventional commercial grade – in fact, most of the herbs are wild harvested in the remote mountains where they gained their reputations over many centuries. A few are the best cultivated or cultured variety available in the world. The product is named in honor of the “eight immortals,” eight Taoist adepts who were said to have achieved immortality. All of them are associated with tonic herbs.
The wild Ginseng comes from Changbai Mountain, the 65 million year original source of Ginseng. All roots are at least thirteen years old, meaning the roots have achieved immortality (the genetic “death domain” has shut down). The Reishi used is also from ChangbaiMountain and is also collected wild from the ancient forest. Wild Reishi has traditionally been known as the “mushroom of immortality.” Wild American Ginseng has been part of Chinese herbalism for over six hundred years. We use only immortalized roots from the Catskill Mountains, the favored choice of Asian Ginseng connoisseurs. Eight Immortals also contains the herb known as the “quintessence of Chinese tonic herbs,” Wild Schizandra from the remote and pristine forests of Changbai Mountain. This Schizandra is not cultivated or collected at low elevation. It is the real deal, the same Schizandra consumed by Taoist hermits for thousands of years as an elixir of immortality. This Wild Schizandra imbues mental, physical and psychic power, preserves youthfulness and robust inner power. Wild Snow Lotus is collected above the snow line of Tibet. The white flower blooms just once every five years at altitudes above 18,000 feet. It is one of the three herbal treasures of the Himalayas (along with Cordyceps and Rhodiola, also in this formula). It is a powerful adaptogen and superb cleansing tonic. Tibetan Rhodiola is collected likewise collected from above the snowline of the Himalayas. The red aromatic root is one of the world’s most powerful adaptogens and has many powerful tonic properties. Wild He Shou Wu, from the mountains of Yunnan, is one of the most famous tonic herbs in the world.
The Duanwood Reishi (organically grown on Duanwood logs in the high mountains on mountain water), Heaven Mountain Goji (grown on glacial melt), organically grown Cordyceps fruiting bodies and are the best you can buy of each of these herbs. All of them have potent antiaging properties.
The herbs combine to build the body’s and mind’s ability to resist stress and overcome challenges on both a short term and long term basis. The herbs have a profound influence on the quality of the skin, mind and vitality.
Himalayan shilajit is produced over several million years from plants and organic matter trapped by layers of rocks in mountainous regions of India, China and Tibet. The pressure from the weight of the mountains and the hot / cold weather cycle causes the plants and organic matter to be transformed into a rich mineral mass that flows out of the rocks. Genuine shilajit takes millions of years and perfect conditions to produce. It is found flowing out of rock cliffs in very high altitudes and remote regions of the Himalayas.
Shilajit is a Sanskrit word meaning “rock-invincible”, “conqueror of mountains”, or “destroyer of weakness”. Shilajit is an ancient traditional Ayurvedic medicine. It has been used for centuries as a rejuvenator and anti-aging compound and for treating a number of disease conditions. Ancient texts refer to shilajit as the “elixir of evergreen life”. In the traditional Indian system of medicine, Ayurveda, shilajit is considered to be a Rayasana (“rejuvenation”) herb as well as an adaptogen, or a natural herb that increases the body’s natural resistance to stress or trauma. It has traditionally been used by many Ayuvedic practitioners as a catalyst to boost the effectiveness of other herbal supplements.
Because of its legendary benefits, many cultures have used shilajit for healing and rejuvenation. This has resulted in the amazing substance having many names: shilajeet, silajit, salajeet, shilajita mumiyo, mumijo, momia, moomiyoshilajitu, mineral pitch, asphaltum punjabianum, black asphaltum, to name a few.
From “Shilajit: An Ancient Panacea“:
Shilajit is a pale-brown to blackish–brown exudates obtained from layer of rocks in many mountain ranges (especially the Himalayan ranges of the Indian subcontinent) of the world. Its curative potentials were found documented in ancient books and were used to treat many ailments since antiquity days. Major portion of Shilajit was found to consist of humic substances.
There is a wealth of scientific evidence which demonstrates shilajit’s anti-aging and health benefits. Shilajit is said to have certain traditional functions:
- Jing tonic – Tones the sexual organs, supports sexual energy and stamina (traditionally considered to be an “aphrodisiac”), supports healthy prostate function
- Qi tonic – Enhances energy and stamina
- Shen tonic – Enhances spiritual power
- Enhances bioavailability and action of other herbs
- Detoxifying – huge high-valence surface area collects debris and free radicals, cleansing the blood and tissues of the body
- A carrier – binds to herbal constituents and minerals, delivering them to their targets

Shilajit is extremely rich in plant-source ‘organic’ minerals. Shilajit is a humic substance, humus being the natural material that is formed when soil microorganisms decompose organic material into elements usable by plants. Shilajit is astoundingly rich in nutrients, antioxidants, amino acids, and phytochemicals.
The main active component in Shilajit, to our knowledge, are macromolecules known as fulvic acids. Shilajit is extremely rich in fulvicacids. Fulvic acids are one of nature’s most astounding and miraculous molecular substances.
Taken as an organic mineral supplement, the purified resin contains over 85 minerals and trace elements that the human body needs to function optimally and fulvic acid which helps the body absorb these minerals at a cellular level.
- Considered by traditional Ayurvedic medicine to increase the central energy (Ojas, the essence of energy) which is responsible for your sexual and spiritual power. A potent aphrodisiac for both men and women.
- Has been consumed to raise the immunity of the body to fight against external agents that are responsible for causing disease.
- Has been effective in reducing or relieving symptoms of depression, anxiety, and mental agitation.
- Provides a natural organic way to maintain health and increase athletic performance.
Shilajit is a homogeneous brown-black paste-like substance, with a glossy surface, a peculiar smell and bitter taste. It has a plastic-like behavior, at a temperature lower than 20°C/68°F it will solidify and will soften when warmed. It easily dissolves in water without leaving any residue, and it will soften when worked between the fingers. Pure shilajit has an unlimited shelf life.
